*Happy Birthday JESSE WINCHESTER! *

Born May 17, 1944, Shreveport, LA

(actually across the river in Bosier City!)

He's one of my all-time favorite singer/songwriters and has been covered by everyone from Buddy Miller, Emmylou Harris and The McGarrigles to Waylon Jennings and Wynonna Judd.

Plenty of people know his songs, plenty more have no idea who actually wrote Buffet's crowd pleaser, "Rhumba Man," "Defying Gravity" and "Biloxi."

HOT TIP: You'll have a chance to hear it straight from the man himself when he joins me on Sunday Morning Country next weekend (5/22, btwn 10am and 2pm) to sing a few tunes and tell us what he's been up to lately!

Hard to believe this gem is now 30 years old!
